The Smart Entrepreneur Toolbox is designed to help you through your entrepreneurial journey. Apply these thinking tools flexibly and iteratively, but most of all intelligently.
You are not expected to follow this guide rigidly. Not all tools are compulsory for each project. There is a suggested direction for using the Tools, from top left to bottom right, but different businesses have different needs, so some exercises will be more useful to you than others. Some can be skipped, and the order and timing will also vary for different projects. The screen text under 'What's this for?' on each Tool page may help you assess how applicable an exercise is to your project. The companion book The Smart Entrepeneuris also a helpful and easy read.
The Checkpoints are evaluation moments when you and your team can review your progress and if you wish seek advice from mentors on what to do next. The fourth and final Checkpoint is the point where you think your business case is ready enough to make a first pitch to potential investors.
How to navigate the Toolbox:
From the Toolbox home page, clicking on the progress bar for each Tool takes you to the description and learning content for that Tool.
For workshops, run your mouse over the word 'Checkpoint' to be directed to related content and templates.
On every screen, clicking on the 'hammer' button at the top left corner will take you back to the Toolbox home page.
You might have to use a particular Tool several times during your journey, or go back over an earlier exercise because you've uncovered new insights which cause you to reframe your business case. This is a normal part of the entrepreneurial process, so don't see it as a setback. Enjoy the journey!
